Insights, Inspiration, and Creative Process: Liliane Avalos' LIVE Art Q&A March 2024 highlights

Updated: Apr 5

Welcome back, fellow art enthusiasts! I'm thrilled to bring you the highlights from my latest LIVE art Q&A session, which took place on March 24, 2024. In this session, I dive into your thought-provoking questions, shared insights into my creative process, and explored the limitless realms of artistic inspiration. If you missed the live session, don't worry! Sit back, relax, and watch the replay below and read through the highlights.

Before we dive into the questions, let me extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who submitted their art-related queries for this month's Q&A. Your curiosity and engagement fuel my passion for sharing my artistic journey with you all.

For those who are new here, allow me to introduce myself once again. I'm Liliane, but you can call me Lili. I was born and raised in South Texas and channel my creativity into an array of artistic endeavors, including acrylic and watercolor paintings, murals, art prints, tattoos, and beyond.

Q&A Highlights:

1. Finding Inspiration: The session kicked off with a deep dive into the wellspring of my creative inspiration. From the breathtaking beauty of nature to the rich tapestry of my cultural heritage, every facet of my surroundings contributes to my artistic vision. Whether it's the golden hues of a Kauai sunrise or the rich symbolism of Mexican folklore, inspiration is everywhere.

2. Overcoming Art Block: We then explored strategies for overcoming the dreaded art block. When creativity hits a roadblock, I advocate for shaking up your routine, immersing yourself in new experiences, and allowing yourself the freedom to play without pressure. Remember, it's all about finding what works best for you and staying open to new possibilities.

3. Dealing with Discontent: Candidly addressing moments of artistic discontent, I shared my journey of growth and self-reflection. While past works may not always meet our current standards, each piece serves as a stepping stone on our creative path. Embracing imperfection and learning from our mistakes is all part of the artistic journey.

4. Tattooing and Future Projects: Amidst discussions about my ongoing tattooing endeavors and future artistic projects, I revealed my focus on black and grey scale tattoos and realism-inspired themes. From floral motifs to Dia de los Muertos imagery, I wish to continue to design tattoos that tell a story steeped in personal meaning and cultural resonance. @inkxla

5. The Role of AI in Art: Addressing a thought-provoking question about the role of artificial intelligence in art, I expressed my belief in the enduring value of human creativity and connection. While AI may offer new tools and techniques, it can never replicate the depth of emotion and personal experience infused into each piece of art.

6. Current Artwork in Progress: Finally, I shared insights into my latest artistic endeavor: a watercolor painting of a Male Melanistic Mutant Pheasant, intended as a contribution to Hawaii's wildlife conservation efforts. This piece embodies my commitment to environmental stewardship and the preservation of our natural world.

Thank you for being a part of my artistic community. Your enthusiasm and support inspire me to continue sharing my creative process and insights. Remember, art is not just about the finished product—it's about the journey of self-discovery, expression, and connection.

Stay tuned for future updates and announcements, and don't forget to follow me on Instagram @artxla for the latest insights and behind-the-scenes glimpses into my artistic process.

Liliane (Lili) Avalos
