This piece was inspired by my mornings in Hawai‘i, when I discovered my love for sunrise papaya. I never liked papaya until I tasted one fresh from the island, sweet, golden, and alive. Eating them became part of my morning ritual, always shared with the curious Madagascar day geckos that would appear, waiting for their share.
