Aloha, I’m Liliane Avalos (Lili), a mural artist based on the beautiful Garden Isle of Kaua‘i. I love to transform blank walls into storytelling canvases that celebrate nature, culture, and personal vision.
Whether it’s for your home, a local business, or a public space, this guide walks you through everything you need to know to commission a mural by me, Lili. From costs and timelines to prep, protection, and the creative process itself.
🌺 Why Murals Matter
Murals are more than paint on a wall, they shape how a space feels. They can:
Create unforgettable customer experiences
Bring cultural stories to life
Spark emotion and conversation
Turn a simple wall into a visual landmark
Every mural I create is infused with intention and detail, reflecting both my artistic style and your personal or brand story.
My Artistic Approach
My journey as an artist has taken me around the world, but now, living and creating on the island of Kaua‘i, it continues to shape my artistic voice. I’m inspired by every shade of green, the overgrowth of lush vegetation, the power of the ocean, the bite of the sun, and the stories carried by the land.
My work is rooted in connection, whether that’s helping others celebrate their family’s legacy, honoring their cultural heritage, or expressing my own.
My goal isn’t just to leave paint on a wall, it’s to create something that people can feel long after I’ve packed up my brushes.
Mural Pricing Overview
I believe in transparent pricing, these are starting ranges that reflect design complexity, travel, and wall conditions. Every mural is uniquely priced based on concept, surface, access, materials, and timeline.
Projects requiring scaffolding, UV sealants, or special finishes are quoted accordingly. All murals require a 40% deposit to begin, with remaining balance due upon completion
✨ Pricing reflects design complexity, wall preparation, accessibility, materials, travel, and timeline. Every mural is custom quoted to match the scope and vision of your project.
🕒 Timeline & Booking Window
I typically book mural projects 4–8 weeks in advance, depending on scope and location.
Small murals: 2–4 days
Medium murals: 1–2 weeks
Large-scale murals: several weeks or phased stages
Booking early ensures design time, material ordering, and smooth scheduling — especially during busy seasons on the island.
📝 Deposit & Payment Schedule
A 40% deposit is required to secure your mural project.
The remaining balance is due upon completion.
Larger projects can be broken down into milestone payments for flexibility.
All deposits are non-refundable once design work begins.
All payments are paid via Zelle
✍️ Design Rights & Artwork Use
Every mural I create is original artwork protected by copyright law.
You own the physical mural.
I retain rights to the design and imagery.
If you’d like to use the mural image for merchandise, branding, or marketing we can create a separate licensing agreement.
This ensures fair use while protecting the integrity of the artwork.
🧽 Maintenance & Protection
Your mural is meant to last for years.
Indoor murals require little to no maintenance, a light wipe with a soft cloth keeps it fresh.
Outdoor murals can be coated with a UV and weather-resistant sealant for added protection. (additional cost)
I also offer touch-up packages for businesses in high-traffic areas.
🧱 Site Preparation Guidelines
To ensure the best painting surface:
Walls should be clean, smooth, primed, and fully dry.
If additional prep is needed (patching, sanding, priming), I can assist with this prep or coordinate a timeline with your contractor.
Proper prep = longer lasting, better looking mural.
📸 Photography & Portfolio Use
I often document the mural process and final artwork for my portfolio and social media.
If you prefer privacy or restricted usage, let me know before the project starts.
High-resolution photos are also available for your own use upon request.
